Keep Ranches and Horses in
Rancho Corral de Tierra

Help us keep a vibrant equestrian culture, and its economic and social benefits on the San Mateo Coast

For generations, horses have been part of the fabric of the San Mateo County Coastside.

Today, that legacy is at risk. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is advancing a plan for Rancho Corral de Tierra that would eliminate most horse boarding, equestrian programs, and ranch-based horse activities. If implemented, the plan would dramatically reduce the presence of horses in the park and threaten the future of the Coastside's equestrian community.

For decades, local ranches at Rancho Corral de Tierra have provided horse boarding, riding instruction, youth programs, horsemanship training, and public access to miles of scenic trails. They also help preserve the Coastside's unique agricultural heritage, rural character, and longstanding horse culture.

Rancho Corral de Tierra is home to approximately half of all boarded horses on the Coastside. If these ranches are reduced or eliminated, many horse owners would have few—if any—affordable local boarding alternatives. Older horses, which often require specialized care and can be difficult to relocate, would be especially vulnerable.

We urge the GGNRA to preserve horses, ranches, and public equestrian access at Rancho Corral de Tierra. Please watch, share, and help spread the word.
